Are jobs in this industry on the rise? Are there any sub-sectors that are growing?

Where are the jobs? Which places have the most automotive service advisor opportunities?

yes they are - Because of ex-Salesman turned General Managers, and the all around cuts in managers pay.... they no longer want someone with years of automotive experiance and customer relations, they dont even really care if you know the product - what they want are salesman.(period) they want you to sell the heck out of non-factory recommended maintances... they want to see hours per RO and effective labor rates, we use to get 5% parts and labor - now we only get a small portion of the labor - yet we are the parts depts biggest customer - but we get nothing for selling their parts,. Managers/salesman - have ruined the dealership experience - not just for the employees but for the customers... they see right right through your scam in a can maintance specials. Also - what ever happen to fixing the customers car right the first time, - managment wants service advisors to sell service only - they dont care about the warranty - yet thats what the survey is generated off of, and why is the service advisor punished when a bad survey comes in, and not the parts dept that would not overnight the part or the tech that left grease on the seat or the porter who missed the grease on the seat or how about the service manager - he is the one that should be docked pay when a bad survey comes in - he is the one in charge right - honestly - the service manager is nothing more then some dude that takes the heat from all angels - he does nothing productive - he spends money and yells at every one else for not selling enough or working fast enough - thats why service manager last only a year or so befor the next nucklehead comes in.

Is this with a domestic dealership, hence the decline of domestic car market. All the good employees have been scared away from these types of places, and the quality of service shows.

Here Here to that..I agree with you 110%. But you forgot about the ridiculous hours we put in (11-12) and all the things e have to do to get that good survey. I once gave a customer a new starter on Goodwill Policy warranty and she turned around and put on the survey that it cost to much !!!!

Seen this before, most customers dont read the surveys or there spouse fills them out with out knowing the details of the service provided and burns the consultant. DING again , open your wallets to the dealership, because they paid you too much!!!
