I've been with my bank for about 6 weeks now and I'm still doing my training course, and finally getting mostly comfortable on cash. I feel that I've been doing well, and learning a lot, but recently my boss has brought it to my attention that I'm falling behind on selling credit cards and making referrals on a weekly basis. I don't know the best way to do it, or how to find the most opportune moments to make these sales/referrals.

I'm still new and I'm being pressured by my boss, and they are making me feel like I'm not doing my job properly but I feel like I don't have the support I need to improve. Now I'm worried they might let me go if I can't get my sales up fast, and I'm stressed out enough just learning and understanding some of the basics still.

Are there any experienced tellers who can provide some feedback or help? Is it normal to be pushed really hard for sales this early on? The stress is just compounding to the point where I'm nervous to go to work now, and I feel like I'm not doing a good enough job. Help!

I work as a teller part time my suggestion is try and learn about your bank product and services and compare them to customers you come in contact with. For example if someone is always overdrawing their account, suggest them to sign up for overdraft protection.
people in college might be interested in the credit cards, and if you have a customer that has bad credit and wants to rebuild the credit maybe suggest a secure credit card, if your bank offers it.
And if you do your best and things still don't work out than perhaps you should seek employment else where because maybe the bank your working for is not a match for you. I worked at two large banks and was in the same situation as you but now i work for a smaller local bank and they are very laid back.
