What are typical banquet captain salaries? Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field? What skills should you learn to increase your salary? |

I live in a region with an extremely fluxuent economy, so my reply may not be as accurate. I have been a Banquet Captain at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay for almost 2 years. The starting pay for the position is $10.00/hr. However, we just recently received a $4.00/hr. raise. I find accumulating tips are subject to about 10-20% of my earnings. However, many other hotels and resorts in larger cities work on a gratuity system, so the earnings may be drastically different. Then again, so is our economy, right? |

I'm curious, what the hell is a "Banquet Captain"? A quick google search turned up nothing I understood. I'm guessing it's like a waiter, but with a much cooler name. |

A Banquet Captain is like a supervisor, you over see the servers, and housemen, some places get payed hourly, and others pay hourly and gratuity,The gratuity system is sometimes 2% of the gratuity of the food sold. |

I have been a Banquet Captain for 3 years at a resort in Missouri. Our starting wage is currently 4.50 per hour plus commissions. The commissions are 20% of the F&B sales. The gratuity pool is then divided by hours worked. On average I make approximately 16.00 - 22.00 per hour during peak season, and 9.00 - 15.00 per hour in the down season. |

I live in Orlando and work as a banquet captain here on an average we make around 70 to 90 a year depends on much you are willing to see your family. The less you want to be around the ones you love the more you will make, either way you will make a great living. Be careful and do not get pulled into a flat rate it may look good on paper but you will be pulling in over 60 hours a week and no overtime so in that case it is better to get a job that pays you overtime. |

We make 6 an hour plus 15% of the bill. We collect unemployment during the slow months and bust our butts during peak season. If I average it out over the year I work 20 hours a week and make 36 an hour. However, there are many 60-80 hour work weeks during peak, including working till 1 am and coming back at 4 am. |
