How did you get your start doing barista work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position? Do you need a particular educational background? |

Knowing that I REALLY wanted to do coffeehouse work, be in that environment, is what got me into my job. Proving myself to the owner, showing that I could do an outstanding job - better than all those other people wanting the position. Working hard, working well, being efficient but also creative, developing excellent relationships with not only my customers, but with my co-workers. Enjoying my job, caring about the community the cafe is located in, upholding a high standard for myself and for the business I work for. No particular education needed, although I do check out other barista zines, sites, etc. It's fun to do that now & then. Self-education...and experience, life experience that I apply to my job. |
