Getting back into the field after 8 years

I am hoping to return to work as a BMET after an 8 year absence. I am 48 and my career spanned 20 years, 14 with a large HMO in the SF bay area. Unfortunately, my career ended abruptly with personal difficulties that affected my performance on the job. I made some major life changes and pursued some new career paths as a result. I have decided that I am ready to re-enter my chosen profession and could use some guidence and direction. My specialty was/is Anesthesia/RT and I would like to return to this area of service. I would like to get current and ready for the job market and I feel that prepairing for the CBET exam would be a good start. Does anyone have any insights or recomendations for me.
