Has anyone just had the title of BSA, but is doing part or none of the work of a BSA?

I feel that I'm in the position of having the title only. I manage the work of a work Tier, which is my primary responsibility.

I really do not do any requirements gathering. I generate reports using queries and Access, but that is about as technical as I get. I've been in IT working as a trainer, HD Tech, Desktop and Network Admin, Systems Analyst and now BSA.

You are doing the job of a Business Analyst not a BSA. I have been both. You need to be careful of the job description more than the job title when applying Some companies don't know the difference in title.

I've been to A LOT of Business Systems Analyst positions interviews and it's indeed a vague title which companies interpret however they wish to.
It can be anything - Helpdesk, reports builder, person dealing only with RFI/RFP , ETL developer, all sorts of administrative positions in an IT department, Project Manager, Systems Analyst and more.
My last position was of a Project Manager at Ness Technologies (in Israel) but it was more of a Business Systems Analyst combined with a 'Client Manager' posiiton - that's something I would recommend you to try - was very interesting....
Now I'm looking for a BSA position in New-York with no real success yet... (resigned and relocated to NY as my wife got a job offer on Long Island,NY).

I call myself a Business Systems Analyst as a convenient handle, but my job responsibilities have ranged from defining MS-Access database queries to managing conversion data-mapping sessions to program managing 3rd party contracts. The skill set doesn't change.
- communication skills: listening, speaking, writing.
- flexibility to learn new things, willingness to change.
- practical knowledge of tools and methodologies.
- Being a little more organized than the users.
- Most important: Understanding of key business processes (Financial, Sales/Marketing,Production, Administrative) which exist in any organization.

Who cares what they call you?
