How did you get your start doing cad operator work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position?

Do you need a particular educational background?

My college had a job board, and with the help of my program chair, I landed my first drafting job (manual on-the-board style). That led to my next job, where the company trained me on their CAD system.

Most employers are looking for candidates with at least some schooling, if not an Associate's in CAD or CG. Some will settle for a high school diploma, but it is rare.
