1. Technically knowledgable - know your craft. Excellent on AutoCAD, Revit, etc. Continue to learn on the job or additional training.

2. Multitask - capable of handling multiple projects with different milestones/deadlines managed by a variety of different personalities.

3. Become multi-facated. Participate in field surveys, offer improvement suggestions for your company's CAD standards, protocols, procedures, etc. Create job position value.

Getting the right CAD training is a big problem where I live. Unless you’re employed and using CAD and/or have the opportunity to go through workshops periodically, there really is no training. If you’re unemployed, you don’t have money to spend for workshops. CATIA and AutoCAD Architectural Desktop at the local tech school don’t really benefit a person, that much, working in the field of civil engineering or land surveying.
