Would like to drive trucks in NC. Would like to know what some of the best companies that are out there that offer paid training (i understand there is a contract with that specific co.) that is local and not otr. I know that might be alot to ask, however, i have kids that i would like to see often. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again

I think you're looking in the wrong direction here, Most companies require you to go OTR if you go to their school. You can get onto a local route, however, being honest, you'll have to wait for somebody to die, or quit, and you'll to move up in seniority because everyone really wants a local position, and most won't give up the one they have.

You may be able to get on a dedicated account, or a intermodal type position, but most will require a years experience. You can be put on hold for one usually at your company, but expect to be driving OTR while you wait for a spot to open up.

I've been there, done that, it sucks, If you want local, you may want to look into an H1B Grant, through workforce training that way you're not bound to any contracts or payments. You'll usually go to a community college for the training.

On my website I have a list of companies that hire inexperienced drivers and some that train. You may find it useful.

Schneider has an intermodal divison, and they train.
Swift has several dedicated accounts, and they also train.

Good Luck!
