sumi begum in Detroit, Michigan said: Please Any can tell me Am i going to get the same skills that I had first time, Because of I failed, I couldn't get change to completed my skills in timely my time was gone. Blood pressure is an extremely important skill for the CNA. The ability to perform and report an accurate BP reading is vital in maintaining the life and safety of a patient. It can be intimidating to learn initially. Practice, practice, practice! Take the BP of all your friends and neighbors. Receive additional instruction from your CNA teacher or classmates. To receive certification, you should be competent at this skill. You sound excited and motivated to become a CNA! I'm sure with additional practice you will master this skill and pass your exam! |

God willing, The three came out and i did great in all but was shocked when the RN had to remind me of taking out the footrest during transfer though i would have done that when i realised myself and because of that she failed me. but the second time she told and corrected me in a lot of things and yet passed me, it doesnt make sense maybe she doesnt want me to come the third time. dont be nervous cos it might make you forget, the lady is nice though. i am taking my test tomorrow at the kramer center and i am extreamly nervous. this is my second time and i am hoping i pass. your post was extreamly helpful ty. |

It's a pretty straight forward test. I passed mine without studying for it. Everything you need to know for it is taught in class and you can find online for free these days |

I would highly recommend anyone to go there as well. It's worth the drive even if you live a great distance away. |

I do have to retake my skills exam just because of one skill out of 5. I did good on my handwashing, weighing an ambulating client, fingernail care, and transferring a client from bed to wheelchair BUT because I performed my PROM on one shoulder very fast as if I am not taking care of an old patient my examiner failed me!! that was a bummer, I was so close to pass the exam but because of that I failed!! that was a lesson learned, next time I will make sure i will make use of my time and don't be in too much hurry while performing the skills!! Oh well, God has plans!! I am hoping I could retake my exam soon, but i called NACES they said it wouldn't be possible that i could retake my test this month, grrr! that really aggravates me, I don't want to wait another month just to retake it which I already been with my first attempt, how can they be so slow? :( |

I failed the first time by one step lady said i did not put enough water on wash cloth. Second time I took test, same rn instructor failed me by one step again this time she stated I did not wash my hands for 15 seconds but passed every thing else! what can I do? ......the only reason I ask is because the other girl that was with me ...missed many steps ...position patient on side she didnt even put a pillow behind my back under my arm did not one time close curtain for privacy and the rn instructor that I had passed her!! |

Just because you didnt put enough water on wash cloth and not washing your hands in 15 seconds, she already failed you? I think that's not fair.. You'll fail instantly if you missed the bolded letters in the handbook, but not tjose things. |

Does anyone ever pass on their first try? |

dude in Livonia, Michigan said: Does anyone ever pass on their first try? I did. I am new to the country and I took fast track. I had car accident on the day of our graduation last year, Dec. 2011. It was my classmate who's driving and the pick-up truck driver didn't give yield on us, so it crashed the old little car we're in. It was difficult for me because I fractured 3 vertebrae on my spine and had to rest for a year. It was difficult also that I almost forgot what I've learned, but I researched all of the sample test questions I have found on the internet. I also studied all over again the tests and quizzes I had in school. And the most helpful for written test is to check the free sample questions at the Diversified website. They have this 10 free question that I answered couple of times just to make sure I don't forget anything. They also have different questions everyday that you can answer. And finally, before the day of my test, I purchased the 1 time test from Diversified. It was very helpful because some questions on the test were the same from Diversified purchased test. With regard to the actual, it was difficult for me because I am always alone at home since my husband works in Alaska for 1 month or more. I used the Teddy Bear as my patient. Be creative. I didn't have basin, but we have a bigger bowl. I used my retainer as my "denture" to practice on. I used the gloves for dish washing and the bath robe for the skills on "Putting on and removing gloves and gown". While doing my skills, I record it on a camera and review it afterwards while checking if I missed something. I do it all over again and again until I finished everything without mistakes. I also check the time on recorded video if I didn't take long doing it because your test is timed. Most of all, I told myself, "If others can do it, why can't I? If I will not pass this test, I don't deserve to be an LPN or RN". I am now waiting for my License. |

I will be taking state exam next week and I would greatly appreciate it if someone that has or is going to take test in Florida help me with some questions I have. When you are changing an occupied bed- Where to put down clean linen while you go wash hands? Is there a hamper in room for dirty linen or do you bring a plastic bag with you? When assisting with bed pan- Do you actually walk out of room to give privacy? Then, when you walk back in wash hands and put on clean gloves? When feeding- where do you put wet washcloth after resident has wiped hands to feed? I have been a private duty caregiver for 10 yrs. and I have done all this before-but they want you to do it a certain way , so I am soooo nervous. Can someone please help answer? |

hi folks,i passed the CNA test for the first time and is thanks to most of your useful advice,i got handwashing, nail care, transfer fro, bed to wheel chair, pulse and donning and removing PPE gown, what i will say to all those getting ready for the test is that never panic, after you ve performed your skill, waite,go over every step in your head before you report to the evaluator that you have finished, never rush,if you made a mistake in a skill ,tell the evaluator and ask of permission to perform that skill,i believe with these you will be able to pass,GOOD LUCK FOLKS. |

HI I GUESS YOU HAVE TO SCORE 60% BEFORE YOU WILL PASS THE WRITTING,AND THE SKILL TEST IT DEPENDS ON YOUR EVALUATOR,BUT YOU CAN STILL ASK THE EVALUATOR WHICH ONES YOU FEEL COMFPRTABLE DOING FIRST,IF SHE SAYS IS OK TO DO IT ,THEN YOU DO IT,BUT PLEASE NEVER ARGUE OR CHALLENGE THE EVALUATOR ,YOU WILL FAIL IF YOU DO THAT,GOODLUCK.77 |

Oh my Gosh took my test Thursday and today friday i checked online to see if i passed my skills and I did!! I thought i failed bc she had to correct me and then I got nervous but she was nice and very helpful. After reviewing what i DID do wrong there were 3 things. 1.Hand and fingernail care Does not clean hand surfaces using wet washcloth, cleaning between fingers, and if soap used, rinse or remove soap using a clean soap-free wet washcloth?
She was very nice. I excelled at speaking to the pt. tho. I definately encourage those Indirect Care skills. I had feeding, ambulation and hand and nail care. Good luck to everyone |

Pleasant Area Technical Center. I failed twice. I know!!! I took that two failed test at my Community College and they suck!!! But I am happy now. MPATC is the best place to be. =) Good luck. |

No, you won't get the same skills. But, I am pretty sure you are going to get either pulse/resp or ht/wt. Practice those things, too. I failed on my 1st and 2nd but I passed my third today. =) You will do fine. Just don't forget to think and rethink while you are doing the skill. |

May last week of class/clinicals starts Monday May 28,2012 and I am very nervous about the CNA state exam (even though I have yet to sign up for it). I was told by my instructor to go to a college for the exam. Has anyone on here taken their state exam at either WC3 or HFCC (both in Michigan)? If so what was your experience like? And ANY advice will be greatly appreciated. |

Kymmie in Jacksonville, Florida said: Before taking the state exam, consider a CNA prep class. In Florida they are fairly reasonable ... and it saves you all the heartaches from retesting plus the delays with all the new law changes as of 8/1. I attended TFN (Training Future Nurses). They prep you on the clinicals & written, plus I got a stethoscope, bp cuff, refresher before state exam for only $300. monday the 4th im taking the cna test and im so nervous, if i fail,i want to know where this prep class is, can you put the address and phone number down |
