I would like to know where I can find a COMPLETE list of CNA job descriptions. I am being told different things from different people and need to see it in writing.

Look on the Nursing board website.There should be a complete do and don't list for CNA job description. Make sure it is within your state. I know in Alaska CNA's are not allowed to perform Enemas, but in other states they are allowed to. Good luck.

It depends on where you work. In home health it is 1:1; hospital it can range any where from 4-20 depending on the unit you work on. In nursing homes CNA's can have anywhere from 10 to 20+ patients. Hope that helps.

I'm looking for employment elsewhere. During my first week as a CNA at my place of employment (after being a PCA for a year), I was put in charge of over 35 residents by myself from 7p to 11p. The two CNAs that were helping left at 7pm. This was on second shift (3-11), which consisted of toileting, getting them ready for bed and putting to bed, answering call lights, etc. It also included two rounds by myself. I believe this is actually illegal, but I'm not sure. I was angry as I did not feel that I was able to provide the care that was both necessary and that these residents deserved, especially being new to the position!

So, it depends on where you work!

JENNA. I THINK THEY ABUSED YOU , BIG TIME.WHEN THEY TRY TO DO THAT TO ME I TOLD THEM. YOU KNOW WHAT? ARE YOU TRYIN FOR ME TO LOOSE MY LICENSE? OR WHAT? 35 RESIDENTS ARE WAY TO MUCH. NO MATTER IF IS AN ASSISTANT LIVING, DONT LET THEM DO THAT AGAIN. BUNCH OF ABUSERS. ---------------SORRY ---------MARIA TEN YRS AS A CNA AND FED UP.
