I will send you that information 10/30/08. You don't have to wait you can go on line and type in travel CNA you will get a listing of places and telephone numbers. all you have to do is pick the one that is best for you.

A company can be based in one state for the application process. All you need do is request an application or apply on line whatever they ask and then send it in. they will do all the normal stuff like background check references etc.

The company will tell you what and where the assignment is available and it is up to you to take or not. Be warned not all company's pay for room and board so make sure you get all of the information before you put yourself out there like that.

I will be in touch with you tomorrow ok.

chat with you soon.

Good Evening,
This is all new to me to look into. But I am very interested in looking into traveling CNA work, maybe to start out on weekends? Or is that asking to much? I received my license in March, but have worked in a family practice office for 14 yrs, as a unit secretary. Are there jobs just for weekends, that may possibly work into more? Just asking for any thoughts and advice.
Thank you,
Dona

You could check into per diem work through an agency within your state. That would be your traveling! A traveling contract is on the average 13 weeks, however, they can be as short as 4 weeks.

I'm sorry! Hey, but it was a try! To travel as a CNA they usually want one to two years of experience as a CNA. Although, I have seen it happen where they only request a minimum of six months. It all depends on the facility and agency. I hope that helps! If I were you, I would look into doing per diem work either part time or full. This would tell whomever looks at your resume that you are flexible to change, (facility, environment, professionalism). In other words...if you do per diem...you gain the experience needed for the traveling field!

It's ok. My thoughts are how can I get experience if no one will give it to me? I am willing to travel to do what I have to do. That should say something, shouldn't it? It is much appreciated in your help though. I will keep looking. Pounding the pavement or shuld I say the air? LoL

Go work for either a long facility or a Hospital because even taking care of a patient 1 to1 is not enough to prepare you for what you need to know for working with different types of patients, especially critical patients) A friend of mine wasa CNA Agencies for some time doing private duty, she signed with ann agency but didn't have the experience of working with other patients. it was hard for her to keep up and they put her on a DNR list(Do Not Return) You want you to know how to be a good CNA. And especially if you are talking about being a travel CNA. If you go to a city and don't know the normal routine for taking care of 6-8 patients you will not be asked back at some places. Even LPN's and RN's get their experience first because many don't want to work staff and they want more money. You may not want to start there but you will need to know the basics. I was a CNA for 6 years and then a PCT. I worked agency but it wasn't until 2 years later of being a CNA. Trust me I'ved worked agency, some of these people doing this type of work have had years of experience, you will have to have your vitals down, know how to chart on a patient, repositioning a patient, and know what to look for if a change has taken place in a patient. You need the experience first.

Your best bet is working in a nursing home...LTC. They tend to hire new CNAs rather than hospitals....unless you are currently a student working towards a career in the medical field.

I think it depends on what state because my hospital hires CNA even if they just finished school, but you'll never know. I t all depends on how bad they need the help, after 6months I almost got hired at a hospital but I needed more practice doing vital signs, the place where I started at also had a CNA class and we were only checking patients' temperatures and that was in 96.

have you been online? I'm sure they have Home Health positions, how you been on Monster or Career Builder? even Yahoo.com has hotjobs, go online and do your research, also at this forum INDEED type in CNAJOBS,LEHIGH ACRES FLORIDA. Florida and Arizona have a large retirement rate so that means there are lots of nursing homes there, or a town close to you, you will find something. Florida is big you may have to go a little further(maybe relocate later once you get a job) I believe if you go on Monster you'll find something. They have places like Maxim Staffing which will definitely hire you but they want at least6 months experience that is with LPN's and RN's too. If there are nursing homes and you have a car,get your resume together, even if the job is in the next town take a chance. Some home health agencies need help for people in their homes, lots of people don't want to go to nursing homes, step out on faith!

Also once you start working see if they have medication Aide programs in your state, they havethem every where except Illinois, that would be a good way later to see if you want to go into the nursing field later.

Hello hedanne;

I just got off the internet and you would be amazed at allthe CNA jobs I saw in Lehigh Acres Florida, they seem to need a lot of help there. I went to Google and I put in these words CNA jobs,Lehigh Acres Florida. There are plenty of jobs in Indeed for that area for CNA's. Also there seemed to be about 12 pages of jobs there, so I suggest you get busy young lady,it's plenty of work to be done in those nursing homes, Be encouraged and be blessed!

I am in New Mexico on assignment right now. So, with not knowing anyone here...spend alot of free time on internet getting information from Registrie per state. It would take to long to list all that I have. Will try to scan page I have info. on and send via email for anyone needing this information.I also have all states that are compact for LVN, planning on testing out in California before this year is out.Wish me luck!!!!

Audry,

Not all of those states you can work in through agency for 120 days. There are stipulations, if you read all the fine print. Wyoming is one state. In this business, you have to be very careful when reading all state docs....there will always be something several sentences, or paragraphs later, that can change prior statements within the doc itself.

Believe it not, they do not! Not unless you actually inquire if it will work when you are with agency! Not trying to argue, but be helpful....I hold 7 states in this arena! You really have to research, and ask....because it is not handed to you. Resiprocities are different, although, it will not go through if the CNA course you took does not have applicable hours within the program.

Audrey,

Seriously, have you had The State Board's of Nursing call you directly for licensing without you applying or inquiring first? The catch is "without you applying or inquiring first". Although, the board's will return a phone call if requested. I have been contacted for positions throughout the United States; when I apply for that particular licensure, and am actually able to speak to a "body" - then, yes, most are very helpful in helping you with establishing such. However, if you do not ask certain questions when working through agency, you might be provided the wrong information!

I'm not into discouraging people into not pursuing their dreams or attempting to meet their goals. I am registered in 16 States. Yes there are a few that want extra things and some that want you in their state to qualify. Never just take the word of another. Investigate and look into the answer you need on your own. Keep going until you get what you're looking for. You may run into some closed doors. But...as they say..."when one door closes...another one opens".Most of the States I was wanting Registry for...I got.

"However, if you do not ask certain questions when working through agency, you might be provided the wrong information!"
That was the point I am trying to stress, nothing else. We have to stick together to be able to provide all of us as acurate and helpful information as possible. As an agency worker, the rules and regulations are and can be different when obtaining certification as a nurse aide. The Four Month Rule is one, and it is different in each state that it applies. Some states will let you become employed directly through the facility for 120 days of employment as you said, but not employment through an agency via the facility. As an agency worker, it is not helpful....with the exception you wish to relocate.
My appologies if I offended you...

No discouragement from this end! As I stated earlier...I have 7 state registry's that hold the four month rule...that is the arena I was speaking of! I actually have dealt with this rule several times and am just trying to give useful information to those that are seeking it. There is encouragement to those who are seeking for those particular states...I did it...you can too!
