The testing is nothing to get nervous about. It is common sense. Just do what you learned and continue to practice until the state test comes up and I wish you all the best.. |

Ok, I live in Illinois and maybe its just me but I am willing to bet money I could have passed the CNA exam without taking a class at all. The entire test is common sense. I'm sure you will do fine if you got a C or better in the class. |

My daughter has had 3 years experience taking of her elderly grandmother - meds, checking sugar, giving insulin, filling needles, bating, full-time care. She does not think she has the "textbook" smarts to pass the CENA. Would someone please respond regarding the textbook, amount of readingm memorizing, etc. Thank you. |

WELL THE WRITTEN TEST IS ALOT HARDER THAN PEOPLE THINK. PROMETRIC.COM HAS A SAMPLE TEST BUT ITS AN EASY ONE. I WOULD SUGGEST ANYONE TAKING THE C.N.A. TEST, TAKE A CLASS OF AT LEAST 1 MONTH AND SEND IN YOUR APPLICATION AT THE BEGINNING SO WHEN THE CLASS IS OVER, U WILL HAVE IT FRESH IN UR MEMORY AND BE AT THE END OF THE CLASS. I HERE IT TAKES 3-4 WEEKS TO PROCESS AN APPLICATION.ON THE WRITTEN U NEED TO GET A 80% TO PASS FATTY |

CNA in East Lansing, Michigan said: What does CENA stand for? Competency Evaluated Nursing Assistant. It's the same as a licensed CNA. |

I think Im in big trouble along with the other classmates. that test was hard! Omg, what about the skills you do in front of them? Like ROM,blood pressure, change of postion, making a bed with someone in it? Am I just worrin' to much? Help someone! |

@ sad in spring: Yes, you're worrying too much :). Just know the criteria... typical BP levels (120/80), etc. If you've had ROMs, you know what and how to do them. Same with all the other. Your trainer should have you prepared to pass the testing. If you passed with 'them', you shouldn't have any problem passing the state requirements. One main thing to remember is to wash your hands properly before and after. Another is courtesy. Identify who you are (even if there's a dummy in the room/bed, treat it like a real person); ask them how they are doing (be conscience of that when repositioning, etc); explain what you are doing; make small talk if you can... "it sure is a beautiful day isn't it?", "how was your breakfast? (or lunch or dinner). Last I knew, we could tell them that we want to stop and redo the assigned test if we missed a step. They would rather have us 'know' that we missed something and redo it than go through the procedure after messing up and seemingly not knowing what we're doing. All in all, be relaxed, be courteous, be communicative, remember the step by step procedures (remember, wash wash wash!), and show your passion and concern for the "resident". Good luck! |

There is usually a lot of anxiety surrounding test taking for most people. You can rest assured that if you know the basics you will pass fairly easily.
