i hear people say that these computer chips are giving car haulers almost double the mpg and horsepower is also a great gain. i have a ford F350 turbo diesel dually pulling a 3 car wedge hauler and if my calculations are correct im only getting 8 mpg fully loaded with trailer and 3 cars. could someone tell me if a computer chip has helped them with their mpg also which chip seems to be the best chip for the price without messing with any engine componets or adding bolt ons like pipes or bigger turbos and all that stuff. ????????????????????????any suggestions??? thanks

if you have a 7.3 powerstroke u should be getting 10mpgs loaded with 3 cars. if u r not getting 10mpgs u might have something wrong. i had five 7.3 powerstrokes and alway got 10mpgs loaded with 3 cars. unless u r pulling mtns u should get 10mpgs. chips can increase ur fuel mileage and they can also damage components. most chips increase fuel pressure and hold the wastegate closed longer. higher fuel pressure will wear out fuel pumps high pressure oil pumps etc cause they are working harder. keeping the waste gate on turbos closed longer increases tempatures and take the risk of damaging turbos. to increase mpgs i would get a k&n air filter it does increase mpgs and if u get a chip, dont get one with drastic increased power cause that is where u will damage components. while pulling heavy loads a moderate increase in power like around 75hp should be reasonably safe. i had a hypertech for my 2000 and my 2001 powerstroke and it had a increase of 75hp which did not damage anything. these guys telling u that they are doubling their mpgs with chips are not being realistic with u! you can get about a 2mpgs with a chip and about 1 mpgs with a k&n.i have the hypertech for an 2001 ford powerstroke for sale for $75. if interested or have any more questions u can contact me at grimrepo70@yahoo.com. good luck
