Ms. Shah when you ask about good foreign language education counselor. I am not sure what you mean here working with native clients or foreign clients. I am assuming that you are working with the people who are non native speakers. You might be assuming language play's major role, however research say's that 95% of the therapeutic relationship is nonverbal. My point is the basic traits of any counselor or psychologist is to get emotionally attune with your clients. Some basic clinical skills, like listening, reflection of feeling, restating - all are the important qualities of one clinician. There is no cook book approach to therapeutic process, this is more dealing with emotional being. I would encourage you to get professional training before who deal with someone else’s emotional baggage, you understand about your own self and your own emotional baggage’s. Answering some questions like - WHY YOU WANT TO BE COUNSELOR- WHAT WILL BE YOUR ROLE IN THIS PROCESS... |
