What is the best training for becoming a career counselor? What types of ongoing training or certifications are necessary to be an effective career counselor?

The National Career Development Association offers training for certification as a Global Career Development Facilitator. It is a very comprehensive training. Go to there website and see where trainings are offered. Some trainings are partially online. Also, joining this organization and attending conferences and reading their journals would be helpful.
