My was laid off from my job after 20 years. I am 59 have a BA and an MBA, but feel I should look at geeting some trade school or advanced training. My company has just been TAA certified, so I may be able to receive 2 years of training in a new field. Here is my question: What field or occupations should I investigate? I think a job in the medical field would be best. I have looked at sleep tech, and X ray tech. I would not mind doing PT or OT Aid but that would require a year of sciences befor I could apply to the program. One thing for sure, I am going to have to work well into my 60s. Beign laid off for a year and a half has tapped my savings. Any thoughts? |

Medical Sonographer is a growing position, pays well and may be a good fit for your next position. The programs are about 1.5-2 years long, just be SURE that they are accredited programs - meaning that you can take the National Exam to be a Certified Sonographer. Pays up to 65K per year and up. Cardiosonographers seem to make the most and will be in demand.
