Forgive me in advance but I feel the need to offer my two cents as a word of caution. . .perhaps you'd be better off searching for help in your area through a reputable agency that provides in-home support? Having worked in health care as a social worker and in the community as a care manager I have often referred clients to agencies specific to their diagnosis or illnesses that provide assistance, recommendations, etc at a no or low cost. You want to make sure that the individual can be held accountable by his or her agency and is licensed & trained. You are inviting someone into your home--you don't want to attract predators! If you want to continue this search this way I suggest having employees undergo drug testing, a complete background check (including criminal history & financial), and creating a legal, binding contract of services to be formed & having it witnessed by someone you trust.

Hi, I am only 28 years old but have spent the last 3 1/2 years as an aid for a woman affected by ALS. It was not a live-in position but I worked more than full-time hours with her and her family (she had 2 children). We also travelled together and I stayed in her home during family vacations that she was not able to go on. My college degree is in Social Work but I would like to continue in the caregiver occupation. I am currently in Birmingham, AL but have family in FL and would like to be closer to them and am willing to relocate. I am willing to submit a background check and drug screen. Well I am hoping for a lady 40 of age or older to live in. My husband takes care of me 24/7 , he does evrything for me. I want to go on vent and need some help to give him a break or when he is working in gardens/mowing lawn, shopping .... I also like someone from US. I keep lookinging. I am going to call local Churches and the women shelters. My friends fount caregivrs like this. They can even have a part time job if they like as my husband dos everything now but as you know once I go on vent will need more help.
