Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field? What skills should you learn to increase your salary? |

It depends, in a city like Dallas the salary for a Cateogory Analyst with 2 years is 55k-65k. They are interchangeable with a Marketing Analyst, but it takes more skill to be a category anlyst because you are supporting sales with more immediate demands and knowledge of plannograms. Important skills to get a higher salary once you are a category analyst are Spectra, Xlerate, Nitro, JDA or Apollo, Retail Link. Spectra, JDA or Apollo, and Retail Link are skills that separate the top Category analysts from the data pullers. Retail Link skills make more because of the necessity of it with working for clients operating for Wal Mart. They can range up from 75-100k+. Category Managers are the next step and they can range from 75k to 95k. Yes pay does vary with companies. |

Try and get a position within the Pharma industry like JnJ, BMS, and Abbott. They tend to pay more and have better benefits. In CA, around 75K with 2-4 years of experiences. |
