My girlfreind is moving out here to SD california, and she is now a registered CNA in virginia. If anyone could tell me how or what she needs to do to transfer her certification, so that she doesnt have to retake the training out here, it would be much appreciated. We've looked all over the internet, and are soon going to give up hope and just put her through the training again. Is the transfer possible? Anyone have a number to call or a link to the forms? Any help would be great.

From the replies above I am assuming that if you have a valid CNA license in another state you have to start over again in North Carolina? Is this true? Does anyone know a number to call here in NC?

If you already are Licensed, Certified, Registered or State Approved in your own State and want to move to another state, you will need to request reciprocity. This means that you are asking the new state to recognize the approval you received from your home state. Contact the State registry in your home state and request a "Application for Enrollment By Reciprocity". Ask them if you should send the completed form to them or to the state to which you are moving. The contact information for the state registry can be found at www.4cnas.com

it is really easy first of all get in contact which the state you are moving to and let them send you the paper you need to filled out.then filled out the paper work and make sure you get the document that is need from the school you attend(they will be asking for this) and if you can wait for them to send it back to you then this will be great for you.if not then you might have to wait until they do the paper work to get you working.

NG-
The local Red Cross in San Diego may be
able to give you the number and address to the State Certification in CA. What you girlfriend should ask for is called
"reciprocity". It is unlikely, however, if reciprocity is feasible..she will be given a form to complete and mail in.

However, if your girlfriend is not able to receive reciprocity, my advice is that she obtain a CNA Training Book for CA and request to sit for the exam without taking another certification course. Again, the Red Cross may be
the best source as they are leading trainer of CNA's.

My best-A Red Cross volunteer & former Director. DK

Hi
My name is Notaria and I'm lost. I live in illinois and I want ot transfer my C.N.A. license to florida. I'm a little nervous because I just turened 18 and I have to face the big world now.Plus I have a 1-year old daughter. I want to move to florida but I know I cannot just walk into a nursing home in florida and say" Well i'm certified in Illinois, but I wanna work here in florida". SOS

Sincerely,Notaria
