If Australia is paying you that amount of money to be a CNA then there is no point moving to the U.S. because that pay rate is about what an LVN makes. And even less for a new grad LVN.
For those wanting to be an ACUTE CARE (AC) or HOSPITAL-GRADE CNA please do not rely on simply taking AC-CNA classes alone. Employers will prefer a standard CNA with work experience over a CNA that has taken an extra class but has no patient care experience. After all the additional course for AC can be completed in a few weeks or just 1 week if you do it full-time. For those looking to become one or are considering which CNA school to attend. First and foremost, make sure they are approved by the state. Next, find out where they do their clinical portion. Most schools will use a SNF, ALC, or LTF. Hard work but not equivalent to working at a hospital. Good luck to us all and wish the best of health!! |

Male CNA in Montclair, California said: lol not in california.... Too many immigrants willing to work for little to nothing just to obtain a job. There is no unity here, it's all about one for all and all for one. CNA wages will NEVER increase the way it's going on in California with the declining economy things is not likely to improve for a LONG time. well well, I am making almost $15, and still going to school to be nurse, educate yourself, so don't blame nobody, nor the economy, that's a lame excuse, orange county by the way. |

When they see you dressed up they will be very interested in you and will give you the interview on the spot! Most of the places I've visited didn't bother asking about what I've learn in my clinical experience ( maybe it's because the way I presented myself and what not)and offer a job on the spot! Now we know that many of us just got our certificate and don't have work experience besides our clinical, but do not let that be a negative impact on you: instead let it be a POSITIVE impact.

AMERICAN RED CROOS IS A GREAT PROGRAM FOR CNA, INLY 1 MONTH BUT YOU HAVE TO ATTEND M-F FROM8AM TO 5PM AND CLINICAL HOURS 7-4PM. ITS $1500. Your best thing to do is get CNA and apply for LVN at a community college, all you pay for LVn is maybe $4000 and if you qualify for FAFSA its free. LVN's get way more pay then CNA, also first priority for an RN program. |

pretty girl in Bloomington, Illinois said: do any one know how much las vegas nevada paid they cna an hour please could someone tell me I started out as a new grad making 10/hr in 2007 in LTC. Then went to agency 3 months later making 11/hr and within one year ended up making 14/hr since I was always being asked to come back to these facilities. Then got hired per diem at a local hospital making 17+/hr, can't remember. Had another job per diem at the county hospital, two different times making 17+/hr. Then in 2010 went into hospice making 14+/hr plus $2 shift differential and $1 weekend shift differential. I know some cna's out here make over $20 bucks an hour. It all depends on what type of facility you work at. |

I am planning to attend the long beach arc. I am excited but nervous because I don't know what to expect. It would be great if you can tell me what we do, etc. and about the schedule 8-5 plus clinical 7-4, how does that schedule work? Like is it every other days for clinical or is it everyday ? Thanks ! Also are you a cna? If so, do you believe the money is there? Im a 21 single female planning to get my own apt. I pay about 500 a month on my phone and car bill. Working as a cna, do you believe I would be fine renting my own apt ? Thanks!! :) |

Like is it every other days for clinical or is it everyday ? Thanks ! I went to ARC in San Bernardino last year and landed a job within a month or 2 of completing it. Most of the places out here pay about $9 an hour and I was able to pay for about 80% of what we needed for a family of 4. My wife helped with the rest. The school was 21 days and it was about 8 or 10 days classroom and then we went to clinicals. The only thing they do not teach very well is to do blood pressures. Other than that it was a good school. Good Luck |
