annonymus in Murphy, North Carolina said: To all of these poor souls that think they want to take care of others. Remember the title is Certified Nursing Assistant!!!!!!!!!! Which means you are to perform any task your so gracious nurse does not want to do. That includes going to the room to answer a call light that requires a nurse that can give medicine on the other side of the building while you are in the middle of putting everyone to bed so they DO NOT DISTURB THE NURSES!!!!!!!!!!! The patient care is very rewarding BUT you always work short-handed and you DO NOT HAVE TIME to spend with all 60 residents in a nursing home. Regardless of what you think you want SLAVERY was supposed to be obsolete!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the information. I'll keep it in mind as I continue my job search.

I know you posted this a long time ago, but do you still know of any places that are offering this on the job paid training to become a cna? I would like to get into a health career and I figure this would be a good place to start and a better way to learn.

Alycia in Providence, Rhode Island said: I know of a couple of places but i have them written down actually in my car.....theres alot of nursing homes that do the classes for free and theres ones you have to pay $250-$1000 for. I just took a class over the summer amazing teacher and it only cost $250 for the class but it was in newport. I know of many classes please email me at daddyzlilgrl120@yahoo.com if you would like a list of them...i will grab the list out of my car tonight so i can reply to anyone that emails me. If you email me please but cna classes in the subject so i dont delete your email and let me know where you are and how far you are willing to travel and I will help you out the best I can. Ask a nursing home for free training.Just remember you are going into a low wage job that is often understaffed and very stressful. Most average jobs with no training pay better and have less stress. You can also become a companion without a license.Home Health

I am curious why people still want to be CNA's after they read this forum.Low wages, understaffing and basically we are treated like crap by nurses and corporate.Maybe if everyone refuses to work as a CNA except working privately for a family in their home for at least $15 a hour. The elder system will change and staff properly and pay higher livable wages. So ban together and quit the racket.
