My brother is interested in becoming a cna, but does not have the money for a class. There used to be some local Nursing Homes that would hire people interested in becoming a cna's and they would offer the class to thier employees. Is this still the case? If so who are they? |

I'm not real sure how other states, but in Idaho it is a 3 month course that is offered to you as a high school senior in most high schools, or at a local college or university. I took it through the high school a year and a half ago. The class is around $150 to $200. My best advice is to look into classes through a college. I've never heard of a nursing home training for CNAs. They may train NAs, but a CNA takes more time and money. It also pays back. You will get a higher wage if you're a CNA rather than an NA. I currently work for a home heath agency and we also train NAs. It's a matter of personal preference. Personally I would take the class and get the higher pay wage. Any further questions, feel free to contact me at whitnerin@hotmail.com. Whitney |

I've been searching for about six months trying to find a nursing home or facility that will pay for the cna training in exchange for me committing to work at their facility for a specified amount of time. I haven't been able to find one yet. However, what I did find is that if you go to Pikes Peak Workforce and register with them and meet their criteria they will pay for you to take the CNA classes and in most cases will pay for your blood pressure cuff, stethoscope, one set of scrubs and shoes (they may only give you money for the class). You have to jump through a couple of hoops but it's worth the hoop jumping. It's located on Pikes Peak Ave next to where the old Montgomery Wards used to be. It's a state run job search facility and you'll have to deal with a lot of people at the facility, if you go early in the morning you'll run into less people. Carey |

Sorry, I also meant to say that there are several places in Colorado Springs that hold classes if you can afford them without help. They range in prices just go to www.dora.state.co.us/nursing/education/CNAprogramsCounty.pdf and scroll down to El Paso county and it will list most of the places with phone #s, that are certified to hold CNA classes in our county. Good luck! Bambi |

In the state Im in I looked up the state nursing board, and they had a list of places you can take your cna training, and they list the nursing homes that offer free training, in my state most have to train for 9 weeks, and then work 9 weeks, im currently going to sign up for a expedited training course and it costs about 800, it takes 3 weeks fulltime 8 weeks parttime, in another staTE THAT i know of baltimore, maryland has many free training programs that also pay for your rna and lpn, you just have to make it through the class which make take a couple of years |

Hello! They nbo longer have free CNA training here. Your brother can apply for assistance I believe if he is over 50 years of age. Oyherwise I know of a great cna training course. The best in Colorado Springs in my openion. Very clean and friendly. I received my training at another place for three days. It was bad! I was referred to NTSOC and was very satisified. I believe they still have the same price for the class, which is around $650.00. They have a payment plan which splits it up into two. Talk to Aliese or Tammy @ Therapy Services of Colorado in Colorado Springs. I would have put the phone number but this page doesn't allow that.. Good Luck! |

Hello, No, there isn't any CNA training in nursing homes in Colorado Springs or the Denver area. You would need to take the class through a local training center. I ended up going to NTSOC in Colorado Springs. It was the best! Very clean and they make sure you know everything before your test. I highly recommend them.

We are beo Training Center, and we are proud to announce our recent state certification of our CNA program. We have also been approved to serve as a testing site for the CNA state boards. Our full CNA course is 10 days long over a 3 week period. The cost is $800 and includes the following: tuition, text and work books, one pair of embroidered scrubs, a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope, gait belt, a background check, logo watch with second hand, logo tote, name badge, Tb skin test, and 50% of the cost of the BLS/CPR course. The cost of the urine drug screen will be reimbursed to the applicant contingent upon a “negative” test result. We also offer a Refresher Training Program, the cost of which is $400. The text and workbook are an additional $50. We offer a payment plan, and also suggest that you contact Pikes Peak Workforce for payment assistance. We are located at 1442 North Hancock. You may also visit www.beopersonalcare.com and click on Training Center.
