scams in employment

Its really been difficult; I sent off for a so-called "government package" for work from home jobs; scam; I paid $90.00 for such with absolutely no results; then I found out from my nephew that the website they supplied is a public website, nothing that should be paid for; the operator told me that all the positions marks "OA-office automation" signified work at home positions. I found out this week from one marked "OA" most are not at home positions, it was up to the manager if they wanted the person to work from home. How disappointing. That was in December and here I am still struggling looking for employment. Any advice on how to find a job
