How did you get your start doing clinical data manager work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position?

Do you need a particular educational background?

Yes, really must have a Bachelors degree and better if in a medical related field. Most pharmas will not hire if you did not have at least a 4 yr degree. I have a nursing degree and got hired at a pharma as a contractor and they trained me. If you can get experience in Oracle Clinical, Clintrials, or EDC that would be helpful because they always ask for that. Network with anyone you know in pharma clinical development, that can get you in the door. Hope this helps.

I have recently moved to the US from India, with 4+ years of experience in Clinical Data Management.
Unfortunately, 80% of my experience was with paper based studies using Oracle Clinical and now I am faced with a huge problem of not knowing much about EDC.
Its a thoroughly vicious web that I have found myself in.
Additionally I have started working towards preps for the CCDM Certification which I hope can bridge the gap ..
Any advice?
