What do you enjoy most about clinical pharmacist work? What do you dislike the most? Is it challenging? Are there many opportunities to learn and advance? What keeps you at your job? |

The best thing about being a clinical pharmacist is you are very well respected at our institution. I enjoy the teaching and rapport with the physicians. Most importantly, I have so much flexibility, meaning no weekends/holidays or clocking in/out. When I'm done seeing patients, I can work on presentations or projects from home. I tell all my students to get their PharmD, do a residency, and get board certified (BCPS). If residency is not an option then get board certified. It's nice to know that I can move anywhere and likely get a clinical position or take a staff pharmacist position until something clinical comes up. A staff pharmacist will likely not able to have the same opportunities and usually are the ones bored of their jobs from my experience. |
