Tips for developing clinical research coordinator expertise includes finding a mentor in the field and communicating with that person often. Ask for feedback on communication. Be proactive in conducting quality assurance with co-workers; learn to give and receive constructive feedback. Stay abreast of assessment skills and pharmacology. Communicate with all stakeholders. Focus on good to great concepts. Set your own metric goals. Document your progress for your own files and discuss this frequently with supervisors. Insist on a job description. Consider asking for the title clinical research manager and get involved at your institution in promoting study coordinator gatherings, fellowship, grand rounds, journal club. Write about what you do and get it published! Elevate the profession.
