I have heard negatives regarding consumer debt companies. People say they are like the Timeshare Resellers, mostly a ripoff and the people they call get very irritated with them. Someone told me that all these companies do is transfer a credit card debt from one to the other and they negotiate a better rate, thereby saving their client money. The problem comes when the consumer figures out they could have done it themselves and get mad that they were charged such an outrageous fee. even though they do agree to the fee based on the savings over time, they still get upset. If these companies where to charge a lower fee then the consumer would not feel ripped off. Business is business. It really boils down to, do you want the reputation of a ripp off company or rip off sales person just to make a buck? Reputation used to mean something to people. I think before you do something you should consider how you would react as a consumer. Put yourself in the consumer's shoes, then act accordingly. You will know what the better approach is. |
