What are the top 3 traits or skills every Compensation Manager must have to excel?

1. Business Acumen - The ability to see the big picture and understand how the jobs, departments and processes in your company fit together.
2. Quantitative/Financial Acumen - Comp folks deal with a lot of survey/internal data. An understanding of statistical analysis to aggregate information and presenting it to get your point across is crucial to a Comp manager's sucess. Like they say , the truth is in the data, it all about how you show it.
3.Relationships - Developing relationships with management and the HR managers will definitely give you the upper hand at acquiring the knowlege needed for my first point.
