I would need to answer this question with "it depends on the industry you are talking about." There are compliance jobs within many industries (financial services, banking, utilities, military etc). So you need to be specific.

Some areas where compliance needs appear to be growing is in the finacial arena (specifically in the brokerage side -series 7/24) and in the public arena (SOX 404).

Right now it seems that almost all of the compliance positions that companies are looking to fill involve investment banking (series 7 & 24). Compliance positions in almost every other field (commercial banking, insurance, pharmaceuticals etc) are few and far between.

It's appears that it may soon be time to look into another profession.
