I agree. I have worked as a Senior Computer Operator/Analsyst for Major companies from DOD, Ararpahoe County, STK to EDS and was laid off over 2 years ago with 26 years Mainframe exsperience and moved to Houston, Tx thinking for sure I could get at least a Computer Operator job, Nope! They all want hands on exsperience Service Maint. with the newest SERVERS/ Programming expr.. + years of Degrees rathur then good hard working workers with excellent work histories that could just use a little training in what ever position they need.

I just got laid-off in Aug, and there's no work as one in Las Vegas. I spoke to a friend of mine in Los Angeles, (where I'm originally from), and he has no jobs there either. I "was" going to go to school to get certified to something higher in I.T. The cost here is $14,000. I'm almost 60 and don't want that kind of debt. I decided to go to school to become a Pharmacy Tech. It costs $7,000., 9 month course, and it's recession proof. My point... maybe it's time to learn higher, or change directions. Good Luck |

I'd also like to say that if there are any jobs for the "computer operator" anymore, there is only ONE at all, or ONE per shift. In Vegas, I thought due to all the casinos out here, there would be many jobs to choose from. The only problem is, I'm trained in Unix, and ALL of Vegas is running on AS400! I asked "why" AS400 when I knew it was so old? I was told, "Old yes, but a great workhorse". |

I was a Senior Computer Operator and was promoted to a Systems programmer. Never really liked it but the pay was too good to refuse. I left because of personal issues. I am going to school right now and need to find a job, so I am looking back to Computer Ops as a way to study and work at the same time |

What mention of porn are you referring to? This is a sales position! I don't appreciate your ignorance or assumption of my life. If you know someone, then you can say "get a life". I'm here trying to provide real job opportunities, not just comment on what other people are saying to each other. I have better things to do. |

Computer Ops is declining, and using past skills to transition into another field is the best course of action. |
