What are typical computer operator salaries? Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field?

What skills should you learn to increase your salary?

Yes, it is true that salaries vary greatly from industry to industry. For example, banks and insurance companies traditionally pay less for this type of work than say, oil companies (best pay). Top earnings can range from 35 to 40 thousand a year depending on geographic location and industry. My advice to you is to learn flash or HTML and go after the "internet development" jobs. Computer operations is not a growth career area.

Yes, this is true. Another great direction to go is help desk. Good help desk people can make good money also.
