How did you get your start doing construction inspector work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position?

I've transfered to KY through my wifes job relocation,I've been here for a year and with 33 yrs. experiance and 15 certificates in related field can't seem to land a job.The local D.O.T. cabinet lab crew which I became friendly w/ can't believe no ones hired me. If anyone has any advise I think I could use it.

I have a ICC/ ICB certs with 30 years of structural construction experience.Looking for work in northern Ca. I'm looking for a Sr Inspectors job in the bay area. Do I need more than the ICC/ IBC? Do I need single certs?. Like cement/rebar and so on. I'm willing to be an assistant to the SR Inspector to learn the ropes.
