How did you get your start doing contract administrator work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position?

I have 18 years of AA experience and have been looking for a job for about a year with no luck. I am thinking about do contract AA work and need advice on how to get started, where to get customers, how much to bill, and where to advertise.
