Are jobs in this industry on the rise? Are there any sub-sectors that are growing?

Where are the jobs? Which places have the most corporate travel agent opportunities?

I think they're (jobs) are on the upswing.
With all the different fares, interpretation, schedules, and routings,
corporations need travel agents to do thir travel, in my opinion.

Particularly, because there is so much data out there to absorb.
A Corporate CEO or VP isn't going to look at every website trying
to find the best rate from Los Angeles to St Louis, if he's smart he will contact a travel agent or at least have his secretary/admin asst do it.

Many times travel agents can get special fares based on a corporation's
volume. Incidentally: Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz are all TRAVEL AGENCIES !
Granted they work on line, but they're travel agencies jujst the same.

Theyre in decline and its a dead end job. The big companies work with their corporate clients and build them an online tool. When that is completed, they layoff, fire or shakedown their travel agent employees.

If there are any openings with big companies, it is due to this process (since they have already run off all the qualified employees in their area).

Its a dead end job with no room for advancement. I'd advise anyone to stay far, far away.

12 yrs exp and finally free.
