Although our government passed the ADA Americans with Disabilities Act in the 1990's, getting a living wage job is still very difficult. I am a professional artist and also a skilled computer operator. Because of my disability (spinal cord injury), I am somewhat limited in my choices of work. A lot of positions I find that I can easily handle in a mental sense has physical requirements that I can not do. Examples : must be able to climb stairs, lift 50 pounds, walk long distances, etc. I am frustrated because all my lifetime of skills are being wasted because I can not do things that do not require any skill. It's a paradox and Catch 22. Any suggestions on how to succeed here?
