they asked me for $300 and yes i am very confused as well. i thought i might just attend their training seminar which is being held today and then make a final decision. i want a guarantee on the hours being given. looking at the bright side i might get 7hrs credit and learn something new other than that i am not sure either. |

Yes, I would like to hear what ends up happening here. But how was the info session? It must have seemed real, or you would not have payed? Did they provide any job dates? |
|
swrdh in Smiths Falls, Ontario 8 months ago |
they said that it was refundable if aanything were to change and they guaranteed that they were so many sessions going on that they need people all the time. the lady in charge of the impression taking was even telling us that if they ask u to go to ottawa go with them and that they keep going to different places so we were like its not like we are in demand in the hygiene field and sometimes we need to take risks. but i havent recieved even one mail from them though i have sent them plenty of mails. i do not know why they are mailing some candidates and not some others. i shall most defenitely keep u posted for sure. |

SWRDH I feel for you! Where was your training? Any idea when there will be sessions in the area? I met with the organization a few weeks ago and have had similar experience with contact. It is a neat idea they have. |
|
swrdh in Smiths Falls, Ontario 8 months ago |
My training was in Etobiko,on . i finally did get a mail stating that since they were busy organizing clinics i was to give them a call only at the end of this month. convenient!!!!!! |
|
Jesse in Brockville, Ontario 8 months ago |
You have done better than I. At least they have contacted you after training. I haven't heard anything. I wonder how many ppl they need. I just got posting for 12 new hygiene jobs. 10 were from JA. They must be huge! |
|
Jessie in Toronto, Ontario 8 months ago |
Any updates from JA? Have you gotten any jobs? Is it a real organization or scam? |
|
swrdh in Smiths Falls, Ontario 8 months ago |
Hi here is the thing we did at least get a receipt for the 300 we paid and then they sent us a mail stating that there was to be a big meeting to discuss the clinics. Thats all we got but once something does happen i shall update you. |

It is a total scam, only professional athletes will ever buy their custom performance mouth guards. By taking the training your just paying for that doctor and his small group to travel around taking impressions for the select few pro athletes that will use it. Under Armour currently sells the same performance enhancing technology in a boil and bite version for a fraction of the cost of a custom fit version. What parent is going to pay out $200 + for a custom mouth guard each year for their kid. |

i agree completely with you. I goofed up thinking maybe it was an opportunity for some new venture and paid them $300. After they took the money i haven't heard from them at all. Each time i ask them about a posting they just direct me to somebody or the other just to keep me quiet for those few days. Finally i have asked them for the refund back which as usual they seem to be delaying. they even asked me for the bank online banking stuff after taking that info NOTHING!!!!it is another way to keep me quite. I am not going to rest till i get that money in the bank. |

I had a friend who worked here briefly. She quit because she thought it was weird that they wanted to keep recruiting people to collect $$$ yet there was no hours. It just seemed really fishy. Also I did the math and if he collects this $200 fee from 200 new recruits across the country that is $40,000. That fee btw started off at $150 and swiftly moved up to $200 and eventually $300! Kind of a lot for someone to pay who NEEDS a job. Keep harassing them to get your refund back. They will eventually. But they are just hoping most people will give up on trying to get their money back so they drag their feet as long as they can. I would not recommend working for them based on things I've heard. Pay is nowhere near their initial promise of $40/hr as they claim. And take into consideration they expect you to be a private contractor which means putting big chunks of your pay cheques aside for paying your taxes on your own. I also agree with the person that said not many will buy these custom Under Armour mouthguards. They are simply too expensive, even with Jaw Shield's "group discount rates." I recently heard a rumor that the company is now failing. Anyone else know what's actually going on with them now? |

thanx for the comments. They contacted me asking for the bank details after giving it to them they still havent given the money just a bunch of false promises. i guess need to hound them thats all. |

RDH=really desperate hygienist in Toronto, Ontario 3 months ago |
I went to the seminars, the training, paid the $300 and even volunteered to become more involved with their company. This all started in August. I haven't heard anything from them in over 3 months. I've since emailed them quite a few times, and have learned that the main hygienists that were working there have left. I've been emailing them regarding a refund since I know that they had refunded other hygienist's fees. I did learn a few things about them and they just seemed very disorganized, but didn't think it was a scam. I thought the people that asked for refunds were being silly, but now I haven't heard anything from them and I can't help but feel that they just took our money and that's that. I do think that they have maybe a handful of hygienists that actually do get paid, but I don't know how much they get paid or how often they work. They are taking advantage of our desperate search for jobs and exploiting us. I may not feel so bitter if I had at least gotten the certificate stating that I had received this training, but I'm sure I will not even get that at this point. I have decided after 3 years since I graduated from George Brown I'm going back to school to get my BSc. Every opportunity that I thought I had, this being the worst, hasn't worked out and I can't keep going this way. All in all, this has been a very disappointing profession and for a company to use our desperation to make us pay for what seemed like it could be a great opportunity is unacceptable. |

i agree with u never thought it would be a scam i have been asking for my refund for the past 2 months and now i have gotten a bit aggressive by telling them that i am going to report but the only news i received is that they are bankrupt and have no money i do not believe that they have taken $300 from each of us so do the math.

Their phone number is no longer Jaw Armour. It's some other company now so I can only assume their business failed. I talked to the cdho about it back in the fall and apparently they had received a number of complaints but as far as I know, nothing was ever actually done about it. Their business going bankrupt is the bad karma that dentist deserves. I feel sorry for all the people that never got their refund. Dentists are truly the biggest crooks ever and I hate the fact that I'll be working for them until I retire. They are all so cheap and they are stealing out of the hygienists pockets by underpaying us. And for what? To help cushion their own six figure income? When we are struggling to get by? When I bill $150-$200 an hour for a cleaning and I only get paid 30??? And some dentists are trying to get RDH's to work for even less than that now. It's unreal. I know every office has overhead costs, but come on! They are so full of crap it makes me sick. This guy takes the cake though. He actually TOOK money from us and now he won't give it back. I feel like he's getting off pretty scott-free for all the misdeeds he has done. It's a small world though, and his reputation is shot now. I still want him to pay for what he did though. |

I am a female RDH in Toronto, ON. I joined this Jaw Armour group in the summer 2011, with many other hygienists. The two dentists and their RDH helper seemed very professional, with a presentation at the U of T. I am pretty new to this profession, and thought it would be a new and exciting thing to try. I went to all the training sessions and seminars, as well as paid $150. I went to one clinic where we sold absolutely no sports guards. Apparently it was an " unorganized and slow" clinic. Months passed by and I attended even more seminars. They promised us a busy schedule and a lot of clinics in the winter. The last meeting I went to , was in December 2011. I emailed the dentist and the other associates in December, but they never emailed/called me back. I have wanted to check up on them for the longest time, and see if this is a scam. I am a very honest and hard working person, who takes a lot of pride in helping patients and being a dental hygienist. It is quite sad to see people basically pretend to be dental "professionals", just so they can make extra cash and steal money right in front of your eyes. I chose this career, thinking it would bring me fulfilment and success...It is not even about the money, more so about the lack of humanity and respect towards others, in today's society. I am very disappointed with this, and have already moved on. Once these so called " dentists " realize that they work as health professionals who help patients in need, the world will be a better place. I really hope that some kind of organization or association, takes this SCAM seriously. This kind of problem should be on the news and taken to court. However, karma is a b***** and this is the first and last scam I participated in.

I worked for Them for a few weeks. I was on the inside doing recruitment. I left because he gave me a seriously bad feeling about so many things. He was really weird about paying me too. I believe I waited something like 8 weeks from the first day I started working (or probably 5 weeks after quitting) to get a cent. In the short time i was there, it didn't take long for me to start feeling guilty about trying to get people to pay $300 for something that even I wasn't sure about anymore! I went back and forth between trying to decide if it was a scam or a real opportunity. Please don't blame the hygienists that worked closely with him. Most of us were just really ambitious and looking for a good opportunity and he tricked us too. He tricked us into thinking anything good would come out of being "executives" in the "company". And I'm sure the other girls who had anything to do with it feel just as sorry as I do that they took part in getting others involved. |

I think that we should all start complaining to the RCDSO. Call Dr. John's dental office in Scarborough and contact the ODA. Is anybody with me on this? I want my refund. I'm sure I'm not the only hygienist that can't afford $300, especially if it goes towards NOTHING!!! |

I did try and complain to the cdho, and cdha about this. They were really nice to me and told me I probably did the right thing by quitting if I had a bad feeling about it and my ethics felt compromised. They advised me to talk to someone from the rcdso about it. So I called the rcdso and they informed me if I wanted to make a complaint it would need to be through the formal complaints process and I would be required to identify myself. I feel pretty intimidated to go head to head with a dentist who is older than me, more experienced and more educated. I decided to let it go because I was one of the lucky ones that actually got my refund. I still think something more should be done about. I think it would make more of an impact if we could be somehow united in our complaint instead of any one person trying to complain on their own. |

Has anyone filed a complaint yet with the RCDSO? And has the CDHO or CDHA say they were willing to help us? I think there a way too many victims of fraud here. I kept waiting for clinic hours and all they kept saying was that they would update me. Now that I try contacting them again, there's no sign of them and on top of that don't go their webiste, my computer alerted me that it contained a virus. This is really very upsetting. |
