What are typical desktop support analyst salaries? Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field? What skills should you learn to increase your salary? |

I would say the top pay would be about 60k a year. Idealy you want to expand out to server 2003 to do server support. |

A typically, desktop support analyst gest pay from 55k to 65k a year. Companies do pay more for techs who will support the company executives. A top earner can make a base salary of 70k a year, depending on assign duties. One should try to move into executive support, then project management. Project managers get a starting base salary of 70k a year |

Here in Dallas, TX I make approximately $49,000 for desktop support work at a mid sized company. I started this job a couple of years ago at $33,000 with no IT experience (only general office, customer service type experience). I have some college, but no degree and am not pursuing one at this point. |

Im just going to a two year tech school and learning this stuff its kind of confusing to me how did you land such a postion with no degree in it. Im hoping I can get a something like this but Im only looking for at least 20,000 a yr for a salary that would be my highlight from a job of making 8,000 a yr and raising two kids on as a single mother. youre putting hope in my dreams then, |

Depends on where your located I guess(?) A desktop support role with no server support skills is about $15 an hour. I worked at the biggest family entertainment companies located in Anaheim, CA on their hardware support team and that started at $18 but I was only there for a 3 years because I felt I was pigeon holing myself (dealing with the same hardware problems and replacements). Agencies will try and low-ball you so hard out here. I'm currently looking for a desktop support position (my mistake for leaving that company) and I just finished my second Windows Server course here at a local college. Desktop support positions with Windows Server skills on top is pretty slim to none. It's like if you have the Windows Server skills, they want you to have networking skills as well. For someone looking to jump into this role with no experience with computers, get an A+, you'll have more doors open for you with that cert then someone with solid experience. It's absolute garbage. And be ready to pass some assessment tests with the agencies. I've met with all of them around here and passed all their tests but they like to play favorites and fill positions for those who have done work for them in the past.. Don't get me wrong it's a great, rewarding job but the competition right now is insane with everyone out of work and after talking with various agencies they say where it's at is development.. But you would have to be into that.. Sorry I was on a good there. Here's what your looking at... $15 with or without an A+, no server experience.
If you got some certifications, I would say shoot for $40,000 a year, but even still those positions with companies willing to pay that much right off the bat are very, very slim.. The days where people make $60,000 a year on desktop support are over. If someone is making that much it's in management / senior level or with some serious networking and server background. |
