what's better, IT Generalist or Desktop Tech?

The IT Generalist according to the job description will be handling basic sharepoint mgmt, helpdesk support, desktop support, cell phone contract support, purchasing and hardware quotes. My current desktop support is really just that, granulated and not doing a lot of anything but desktop and some intermediate systems support as it pertains to the role. both pay the same 50-52k /yr.
