Are jobs in this industry on the rise? Are there any sub-sectors that are growing?

Where are the jobs? Which places have the most desktop technician opportunities?

I believe these jobs are declining.
With all the remote software tools available in the Market, firms are getting over by using entry level techs at minimum wages to do some of the work.
The most important aspect of desktop support is being able to backup a users profile when they are having problems.
I worked on an investment bank trading floor for some time.
Trust me; you don't want to lose a single bit of their data.
So companies will just have the entry level tech replace the pc or drive and then restore the data via remote tools.
It’s also cheaper for them to keep a low wage earner after hours.

The field is definitely declining as are the salaries. If you are looking to change fields, I.T. is not the place to go to.
