I have an 02 International 4300 with the 466E. When the truck sits for more than a few hours, it cranks for a long time before it starts. The longer it sits, the longer you have to crank it to get it to start. Once it does start cold, it will miss on at least 2 cylinders before finally hitting on all 6 cylinders. It acts as if there is air in the fuel system and it has to be purged before it will start. All the injector o-rings were replaced this summer because of them leaking oil in the fuel tank. I have read something about oil rail o-rings leaking? Is this different than the injector o-rings that I replace recently? I have installed a new fuel filter too. Any ideas? Thanks! |

Check your fuel pressure, it should have 60 PSI and it should also not drop below 20 PSI after being shut down. The primary culprits of low fuel pressure are the pressure regulator valve on the back of the fuel rail, the check ball located above the screen type fuel filter (small canister behind fuel filter) and possible the fuel transfer pump) |

FYI, you should also be monitoring the Hydraulic injection pressure during cranking

Thanks for your reply! I wasn't aware of this pressure regulator valve on the back of the fuel rail? Is it easy to get at to check? |

I have 4900's here at work, you need to remove the engine cover from inside the cab
You must have never had a problem with the HP oil manifold leaking oil if you don't know where the fuel check valve is at |
