How did you get your start doing direct care counselor work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position?

Do you need a particular educational background?

It helps to have a driver's license and high school diploma because most agencies require those things. The NY OMRDD has a continuous test in this field. The best places to work in this field are AHRC, YAI, Queens Center for Progress, and HeartShare. Google these things I mentioned.

Thanks for the advice HW7707. I'm looking for a change in direction. Currently working as a HHA. Will definitely check those companies out.
