What is the best training for becoming a hirable director of marketing? What types of ongoing training or certifications are necessary to be an effective director of marketing?

Read up on branding, advertising, sales, PR and customer satisfaction. Certifications are not required. My undergrad and grad degrees are Management. I've worked in market research, advertising, PR and sales--pretty nontraditional. Good luck.
