District Sales Manager - Unknown Retail Info

I have 4yrs experience as a district sales manager in a non-retail environment and would like to explore moving into that role. in my previous position, while I did work a lot of hours, because they were not all 9-5, I had flexibility with my day - is that the same in retail? Would I still be based out of my home office? I received a car and gas card due to all the driving -- is that standard in retail? What should I hightlight to help make the transistion to retail?
