I purchased a dump truck after i lost my union job becasue of the economy. i obtained my cdl but my truck does not have a dot number, how hard is it to obtain one? my Truck does have a crack in the windshield but is otherwise in great working order. I have not been able to find a replacment windshield. I was told they would not pass it for inspection because of this. Does anyone have any ideas on work i could do without the dot number, or know if the cracked window matters? I have a family and am needeing work. |

In IOWA you need a DOT number just to be on the road. It is easy to get. www.fmcsa.dot.gov/registration-licensing/online-registration/onlineregdescription.htm Also if you are for hire company you need an MC number. Which is your motor carrier number. That is for your Operating Authority. You will get aduited for both. You must be in a drug testing program etc. Its a PITA but onbce you get it done its over. 1 time deal. Good luck |
