There is no free lunch. Go to school to get certified. It is not as easy as many of you think it is. |

MONKI82 in Friendswood, Texas said: LOOKING FOR FREE TRAINING IN WEBSTER, TEXAS pretty hard to find FREE emt traiing. Most junior colleges (alvin, wharton etc) have great emt programs that don't cost too much or take too long to complete. In most cases your first paycheck will pay for your schooling. Your best bet is to just bite the bullet and get into a class somewhere and get through the class. You'll find that there are alot of companies looking for new emt's, that's where the real struggle comes...... Finding a reputable company to work for. Good luck and I hope I've been of some help! |

I am very intrested in becoming a EMT my local colloge offers this course (EMT Basic) I was wondering if there was any training I would have to take before enrolling in this course (CPR etc) |
|

How long does EMT training take |
|
JNL0606 in Bronx, New York 35 months ago |
It depends where you're takin the course. Some places take 3 Months and some places can take longer but no more than 6 months... |
|
JNL0606 in Bronx, New York 35 months ago |
No...you will get CPR certified in that EMT course...because you're going for EMT-B you will not need any prior training...when you want 2 become a medic then that's a different story. |

I know about the NREMT exam that I will have to take after I finish my EMt training but what about the state license how does that work in most cases does the school that offers the training give information about the state exam and is it hard to pass? |

I have wanted to become a EMT for a long time (since I was about 6 but always shyed away from getting the training because of what I had heard about the job (all negative things) Is this true can I enjoy myself as an EMT and have a rewarding and secure future |

A lot of fire departments require their personnel to be EMT-B certified and pay for it. There are scholarships or the option of being a firefighter intern and being "paid" to go through the program. You will subsequently be a firefighter and an EMT. They often pay for additional training should you desire to become a paramedic or instructor. If you can't afford the $400 (avg.) for an EMT class, know that there are options. Often, community colleges are a great place to start! Good luck! |

I'm an EMT and as an adrenaline junkie, I can say that it is often not all it is hyped up to be. (If that's what you were concerned about) Hope this helps |

Kevin in Arnold, Missouri 34 months ago |
I know I'm not gonna be rich being an EMT but what kind of wages can I expect to get after schooling with EMT-basic I'm in St.Louis Missouri does anyone know how hard it is to find work right out of school. Have worked the past 7 years in construction and since the economy has gone south have been laid off and finally going to school for something I have always wanted to do . Just wondering if its gonna be impossible to find a job after school. Any and all info appreciated. |

The average start pay for an EMT-Basic is about $9 an hour. Intermediates start at about $11. And Paramedics-about $18. Give or take a couple dependent on where you intend to work. |
