Puzzled in Milan, Italy

Hi all,

I have a bit of a dilemma and would like some advice:

I have an undergrad degree in economics (quant/theory mostly), then went off to do an MA/PhD in neurosciences (where what I mostly do is analyze time-series, but from the brain rather than the market). I like academia [after a post-doc I'm currently a professor], but I'm starting to think I'd rather be working "in the real world" and economic consulting seemed the right place where to apply my analytical skills (e.g., the research/analysis/statistics section at NERA, and that sort of job).

Is this an 'unthinkable' switch?

cheers

Puzz
