How did you get your start doing electrician helper work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position? Do you need a particular educational background? |

I first started electrical work about five years ago with my brother in-law doing side jobs. Three years ago I got into the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. I was in the apprenticship program and was in my second year of apprenticship with three years experience in commercial and industrial work but decided for many reasons to go open shop instead of union. I really want to take classes at a community college and get my journeyman license within 2 years instead of the five year school with the union. Now I am currently searching for a well paying job as an electrical helper for a well recognized company that would maybe help me with my continued educational pursue of my journeyman license. And later with futher experience get my masters or electrical engineering degee. |
