I've been in the field of computer programming for nearly four years. Recently, I was in an ambulance because of a heart issue, which only turned out to be a virus. Before knowing that, the doctor said I was going to die. It got me thinking about my job and if it made me happy. It didn't. I get paid well, but the passion died. I'm only 29 / male, wanting to help people more. I think that's my start of a midlife crisis, but it's a healthy one too seeing my desire to make a difference more. I know I enjoy working with kids. I was a mentor for a school district for a boy with ADHD. The teacher had no hope for his grades, but after mentoring him for a year, he improved. Last school quarter I was a teacher assistant for a 5-6th grade combo class. Things finally started looking better because I was socializing more, and then I come home to my remote job as a software engineer. It was dead silent. In school now, I've gotten Honors and the Deans List. My path is becoming clear. But everything just kind of halted right there in what to do. And I have til September to figure this out for transfer purposes. The pros I found:
The cons:
Someone mentioned being a teacher with a reading specialty. Another is ESL in helping immigrated Italy kids in learning English. Any idea on my path? Thank you! |

I ran out of space on my first post. I'm learning Italian because my family comes from Italy. It's a passion of mine in learning it. I hear the school system wants Spanish, though they just say bilingual in their job postings. Either way, I'm kinda biased and proud towards my own heritage. It would be really fun as a teacher to help Italian kids learning English if they move to America. I don't think it's a frequent thing where I currently live though. I could try teaching English in Italy, so I contacted the Ministry for more information. |
