How did you get your start doing embedded software engineer work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position?

Do you need a particular educational background?

Bachelors degree in Electronics, or Computer Science is required to start building your career in Embedded Software development.

One of the basic requirement is to learn Assembly level programming, and in college you will start with Intel 8080/ 8085/86 microprocessors and their assembly language programming. After that, you can learn C/C++ programming.

Then you can advance to any Real time operating system (RTOS), and Linux.

1) in addition to assembler, you should have a good understanding of microcontroller hardware.

2) 50+% of embedded designs do not use a RTOS
